—————————————————————————————————————————-

As of January, 2015 the United States will have a Congress of which both houses are controlled by the Republican Party. Meanwhile, for at least the next two years, the executive branch of our government remains under the control of the most radical administration in the history of our Republic. An administration that has publicly stated that our Constitution is a nuisance, that it interferes with their preferred method of governance.

During their six years in power, this administration has ignored and violated our Constitution in more ways than I have time to list here. (Yes, I know that prior administrations did this as well but never to the degree that is happening now.)

While the Democrats enjoyed total control (both houses of Congress and the Executive), they rammed through legislation – the best example being Obamacare – that the majority of the people did not want. In other words, they governed AGAINST the will of the people, thus nullifying one of the cornerstones of our Republic, government by the consent of the governed.

Once the Democrats lost control of the House of Representatives, Harry Reid and the Democrat-controlled Senate have pretty much jammed the gears of Congress, bringing most legislative activity to a halt while the Executive was left to govern pretty much by Executive Order (that is, by decree).

Now we are entering what I think will be one of the most dangerous (albeit one of the most interesting) situations that our Republic has ever encountered:

First, we face a couple of months of a “lame-duck” Senate. I fear the Executive will see this as its last chance to ram through any number of appointments that are not favored by (or are in the interest of) the people. Given the Democrat majority of this “lame-duck” Senate along with the rules changes recently made by Senator Reid, there is little or nothing the GOP can do in this situation other than complain.

Then comes January, 2015 when the GOP assumes control of the Senate. Given past relations between this administration and the GOP, there is no basis upon which to expect cooperation for the betterment of the Republic. Instead, we can expect the Obamanation to veto any attempt at meaningful legislation from the Congress while his inclination to rule by decree spins ever more out of control.

This puts the Congress in a classic “Catch 22” situation. They can:

Sit helplessly by and let Obama rule by decree, in the process becoming a defacto dictator, leading to who knows what once his constitutional term in office is up, OR,

Try to rein in Obama’s extra-constitutional activities. The only effective and constitutional way to do this is through articles of impeachment in the House followed by conviction in the Senate then removal from office. As I have opined previously in this space, I think this is exactly what Obama wants to happen. And, I think he wants this so much that there will be no limit to the outrages he will attempt over the next two years. After all, public opinion means nothing to him – however good a campaigner he may be, there is nothing left to campaign for.

It is no secret to those who are paying attention that Obama has been the most racist president in the history of our Republic. Can anyone seriously doubt that, at the first hint of impeachment, the administration will do all in its power to encourage a racial response? Our cities could soon be aflame. And, this will furnish what Obama has long sought – an excuse to declare martial law throughout the Republic. A republic that will cease to exist at that very moment. Thus Obama becomes a dictator in fact. Who can know what happens next? Do we meekly accept the dictatorship? Does the nation erupt into civil war? What will our uniformed forces do? So many questions with none of the probable answers good ones.

Of course, there is always the chance that the two major parties will simply call each other bad names and pronounce each other to be the scourge of the Earth until Obama’s term in office finally expires. While this may be the best we could wish for give the situation, what are the odds of this happening?

Like I said – a very dangerous and very interesting time for our Republic. I suspect we are about to discover what we are really made of. I can only hope that, once again, what is best about our nation comes to the fore.

Think about it.

I agree with most of what you said. But not all. Impeachment without a super majority is a waste of time. What congress can do and will do if necessary is stop the flow of money. Obama can degree anything he wants, but he cannot write checks. That is the one check and balance congress has not squandered. Obama is a failure. He will do everything he can, even punish his own party, for revenge. He has to be relevant. He no longer is and for republicans hasn’t been for six years. It is a dangerous time. We have a muslim president that has finally been exposed as to what he actually is. And it’s not good for Americans.

There is another possibility albeit given the personality involved a long shot. There is a model to go by. The last democrat president was faced with the same situation. Damaged by an actual impeachment attempt that failed and faced with an opposing party congress. Clinton did the right thing. I think they called it “triangulation”. Despite Obama’s rhetoric and childish tantrums because that’s who he is he may be forced into more conciliatory actions even while still railing against them all. After all how often have his actions represented his promises up until now. If he continues to insist on continuing his path it will destroy the democrat party and any chances in 2016. He may not care but I’m sure there are many influential people who do. If you believe Obama is completely without outside influence it will be a rough road. I think those that pull the strings will kneecap the dictator in chief before he flits away their influence completely. Most of the population have already rejected his ideology. Can they really risk the rest?

I believe that Obama’s agenda will be revealed very soon. He may either have a “Come to Allah” moment and realize that if he’s to have any legacy at all, he will have to cooperate with congress. Short of that, he continues to rule by fiat. I believe he tipped his hand at the leadership meeting last week when Biden suggested giving newly elected members of the House and Senate until February or March to come up with an immigration reform plan only to be given “the look” by Obama which shut him down in a hurry. Some say this did not happen, but as I said, we will soon know what path he has chosen.

  • Interesting thoughts. It is always a pleasure to see other people.’ thinking. It gives one new perspectives to consider.

If the House were to impeach just think what Ferguson, Mo. has looked like times 200. All of the large cities and many of the smaller ones would burn.

Do I think Mr. Obama would impose martial law? Absolutely I do.

Anybody seen or heard from Dave? Just wondering what he’s up to these days.

    • Yeah, sorry about being so scarce, Chris. I am alive and very well; especially considering the condition I was in a year ago. I haven’t had a cigarette in 14 mo. and my lungs are like new. I walk briskly a minimum of 5 mi. every day, average 7.5, and never get out of breath . I have lost 75# and no longer need or take diabetes or blood pressure meds.

I’ll compose a new post soon; but it may not be political… I have pretty much stopped caring about what has happened to my country. Until it finally crashes and disintegrates, there is little hope of convincing the sheeple that socialism/statism is the antithesis of liberty. â—„Daveâ–º

        Dave,
So good to hear from you! Many of us had thought the very worst had happened, yet you tell us now the opposite is true! Jumping for joy! Best wishes for your continued road back to health.

      • Chris says:

Great to hear from you Dave. So glad all is going well. I understand your political feelings completely. I have very much withdrawn from disgust and moved on to other interests myself. I still keep track of news but don’t care to comment much. It makes no difference.

Anyway best wishes for continued good health and prosperity. I have a new hangout where I devote most of my time now. http://adirondackplaza.com. It’s much less stressful. 🙂

        Dave,
Glad you are doing so well. I am just recovering from spine surgery #5 and actually seem to be improving this time. Counting 3 in the neck and 4 in the lumbar region, I now have 7 fused vertebrae.

I should adopt your idea concerning the state of the nation but it is so hard. As you will note from the article just posted, I get to the point of near explosion if I don’t vent in some fashion.

You indicate you might start contributing again… how about an extended discussion of Islam. I am particularly interested in understanding how the religion of science morphed into the religion of absolute intolerance.

        Troy

        • Thanks, Troy. Good grief… enough already with the back surgeries Give J9 a break and my sympathies. 🙂

As for your frustration, go reread Harry Browne’s “How I found Freedom in an Unfree World.” America now ranks 10th on Liberty, and is falling fast. The country we grew up in is no more, and is most unlikely to ever be again.

I’m definitely up for some freethinking on Islam… and any other religion that gets pushy about interfering with my liberty. I even have a great recent video by our old friend Pat Condell to start it off with and inspire us to speak freely and truthfully. â—„Daveâ–º
