Leave it to my mentor, Robert Ringer, to get the essence of the event right, “Trump and America Win Iowa Caucuses!“:

Forget what you’ve heard from the media. Donald Trump and America were the clear winners of the Iowa caucuses. And while we’re at it, let’s applaud Ted Cruz and Ben Carson (and maybe even Carly Fiorina and Rand Paul for playing small supporting roles).

Trump, along with the other above-mentioned candidates, gave the middle finger to the D.C. Crime Syndicate that has long had its jackboot on the throats of more than 300 million Americans. Psychologically, it was the same as if they had gone into the RNC headquarters and started breaking chairs and windows and smashing statist politicians in the mouth. It’s been like watching a Dirty Harry movie.

Because of Trump’s refreshing brashness, name-calling, and delicious disrespect for the establishment gatekeepers who are supposed to control everything, America and Americans now have hope. Americans owe a huge debt of gratitude to Trump, because it was he who came out swinging on day one and, even after an attempt to isolate him in the first GOP debate, broke all the rules of establishment etiquette.

I’m talking about rules that have made sure that Demopublicans like Mitch McConnell, Mush McCain, Lindsey Graham, Paul Ryan, et al can always be counted on to support the statist quo. The deal has been straightforward: “Cooperate with us and we’ll continue giving you a significant chunk of the spoils (i.e., money and power).”

Statist quo” – I love it! (Don’t miss the long ‘A’ and ending ‘T’) His premise is absolutely spot on. I don’t see how anyone could argue that the dismal showing for the GOPe candidates would have occurred without Trump in the race.

After some great analysis, which is must-read stuff, he concludes with:

In other words, even though Trump and America won the Iowa caucuses, don’t get carried away. Accept the reality that this is a multi-generational struggle that cannot be won by electing the “right” individual. Individuals are flawed, more so after they arrive in Washington, so they are preprogrammed to disappoint you.

The goal should be to fundamentally change the modern, perverse purpose of government, which is to redistribute wealth and use force to make people do things they don’t want to do — and, of course, prevent them from doing things they do want to do. This is the essence of tyranny. So by all means, you should do your best to help move America away from tyranny and toward freedom, but to expect to bring about major results quickly is to invite disillusionment into your life.

Having said all this, it’s nothing to be depressed about. America isn’t going away. It’s just going to continue to go through enormous chaos and upheaval, and the result every decade will be different. But, through it all, there will still be plenty of opportunity for those who are hardworking, resourceful, and determined, so be sure to include yourself in that group.

Good advice! As always, the comments to Ringer’s articles make for some great thought-provoking reading, too. Next to Thoughts Aloud, of course, he has some of the brightest, thoughtful, interesting, and articulate commenters on the internet, with surprisingly few trolls. 🙂 â—„Daveâ–º

I must admit watching Bush come in with 2% was most gratifying and a large portion of the credit goes to Trump. He’s reached a tipping point now though. He’s going to over play his hand much like his Atlantic City casinos. He’s going to come up broke with a lot of bond holders getting nothing. He’s throwing votes away now and I think he knows it. If he doesn’t chill he will lose NH where he’s supposed to take easily. Can you imagine the rant? I’ve been watching around the net. People are getting tired of his reality show. He’s turning women away in droves. I still maintain that he never wanted to be president and still doesn’t.

LOL Meanwhile the republican party isn’t the only one twisted in knots. Anti-establishment feelings run deep on both sides. We have a 74 year old socialist wacko from Vermont about to take out the sure thing on that side. As Hillary tries to out commie the real deal I expect tonights debate will have the audience goose stepping around the event forum giving the Hitler salute before it’s over.

These are indeed the times that were imagined not that long ago. Who the heck knows how it will come out. Probably won’t matter much to us in the end. Oops gotta go. My popcorn is done.
