What the hell has happened to my country? Am I dreaming? This can’t be for real. Why is Thomas Jefferson crying?

A few ragtag terrorists, armed with nothing more than AK47s, in a drifting lifeboat several hundred miles from land, is ignoring the demands of a US Naval destroyer, after an act of piracy against a US flagged ship in international waters; and they have to call the FBI for assistance? You are kidding, right?

These monkeys can board a freighter from a skiff, and our Navy can’t board a lifeboat from a destroyer? Then sink it for the love of Pete! Just run over the damn thing. Surely, the hostage can swim for a couple of minutes. Fly in a seal team, maybe; but stop looking so feckless in the face of a few Islamic pirates. What the hell is the FBI doing, bringing them a public defender, or someone who can read these cretins their Miranda Rights in Swahili?

The press is calling this a “distraction” for Obama. A distraction? Piracy, a mere distraction? Somebody needs to read a history book, and check with Thomas Jefferson on how to put a stop to Islamic piracy against American ships. But Obama is too busy talking about granting amnesty to 20 million illegal aliens today, to be bothered to comment on the stolen lifeboat vs. US Naval destroyer standoff drama happening on the high seas. I can’t take much more of this nonsense. â—„Daveâ–º

Out of curiosity, have you read “The Last Patriot” by Brad Thor. Its an action thriller but has a lot of background historical information about Thomas Jefferson and our first war against Islamic Terrorists. Good book and a quick read.

  • No, I have seen it, but not read it. I can’t seem to find the time to read all the political history books I have bought as it is, so I don’t often treat myself to fiction. The last one of that genre I did read was Vince Flynn’s “Protect and Defend,” about Iran’s nuclear program and also a good read. I could use another break, so I’ll pick up “The Last Patriot” next time I see it. Thanks. â—„Daveâ–º

    Hey Dave,
Thank you for stating the obvious. I don’t watch much TV and so have only heard of this situation recently and was wondering how or why we have a navy ship with in eye site and we are still hearing about this? I saw online yesterday that the hostage had jumped and started swimming only to return after the pirates started shooting their guns. It was unclear if they were shooting in the air or at the hostage? but what was clear was that the people on board the US NAVY DESTROYER were able to see him talking once returning to the pirates? I am sure he was thinking the same as the rest of us, if he swam away then it was a clear shot for the US NAVAL DESTROYER to blow those little bastards out of the water! I am sure even the sailor with the worst shot could use the computer to aim and fire an accurate enough shot. Maybe some cover fire from the top deck would have given the Capt.(hostage) a little hope to keep swimming? I mean come on people? I am sure there are a whole fleet of swift boat patriots pissed off right now, as they would have no problem getting our man home if allowed.
What can we do to put this message in front of someone that can do something about this? Any ideas? I would welcome and put in my support if there is answer to that. US NAVAL DESTROYER?? By definition this should have been over before I even heard about it? Jefferson was right! A country does need to be armed and to have a revolution every so often just to keep the government honest. Too Bad Really, this country was doing so well up until it got to the point that a person would spend way more money to get a job then that same job would pay him. Not sure exactly when that started but I am sure that was the beginning of the end started for our Republic. If you don’t know what I am talking about let me just say, the last presidential election I believe the victor spent half a billion to get $400,000 job???? I might be off a little bit in my numbers but not by much. When I read that I thought, geeez either the person who would do that must really really want to serve his fellow Americans and he must be REALLY REALLY REALLY RICH!!!!!!! Or there is something fishy going on. I don’t know about you or the rest of America but I wasn’t born yesterday. I am not laying all this blame on this President or the last or even the one before, this is not a party issue, this is an issue that really needs to be changed on the next go around. You know after the revolution. I am only hoping there is still time for people to wake up and assist in an intellectual revolution, a revolution of the mind where people see what we have, see where we came from and also seek out the answers of why we are now ruled by a few not elected by the people but rather put in place by the ruling elite who appease us by givving us two candiates from two (supposed) parties. We go to the booths and vote for one and think ahh, we are free, I just voted. But when you get a real candidate of the people, the only one in my life that I have seen brought to the attention of the people not by his money but by what he says, what he stands for and in so doing the attention of the people because they talk about him and pass on what he stands for. Yes, I am talking about RON PAUL. He was completely shut out by the big media, in the debates he made a fool of of the rest and the supposed unbaised media who asked the questions. Every time they asked him something they asked about rumors to try and make him look bad and he turned it around everytime with intelligent rhetoric which was poignant and to the point. To this day, I have not ever seen, or heard a politician speak so clearly as Ron Paul does and has since 1978 or more. I have never seen any interview or questions thrown at Dr. Paul where he didn’t answer truthfully, humble-y, and to the point. It is after hearing him speak or answer questions that I realized why or what was wrong whenever I hear any other politician speak. They never answer a question, they never stand on an issue consistently. It is sad and pathetic! If they are speaking in one area they answer to appease that areas money lobbyist only to double talk the same issue in another area. The American people, through our great Education System have been dumb-ed down enough to not realize they are not ever getting a straight answer. They don’t have the skills to question, to debate, to seek answers. It is easier to be given answers then to actually take the time to find them, besides after working all week, WalMart is having a sale and then the game is on, oh, grab me a beer I am going to see if the hot dogs are done. what’s the score? Where is Iraq? Not here? I wonder if they get the game on over there?

  • Yeah, Tribal, I about lost it a day after I wrote the above when I discovered the hostage had managed to dive in the water. It was like a human shield type hostage collapsing to give the cops a clear shot at the perp. The captain of that destroyer needs a desk job, unless his rules of engagement precluded the obvious action; in which case he should resign in protest, and whoever gave the order needs some help out the door and fast.

Then I discovered the destroyer had a helicopter and seal team; but they put the seal team aboard the freighter and sent it to Mombasa. What were they thinking? Now, I hear the pirates have called for reinforcements and are GETTING them! These fools have so little regard for our toothless Navy that they are coming from all directions to “rescue” their mates stranded in the lifeboat without enough fuel to reach shore!

Something is seriously backwards here. Instead of the pirates threatening to harm the hostage if we attack, we should be threatening them with unthinkable pain if they harm a hair on his head. They are not suicidal jihadists, they are opportunistic mercenaries. They don’t want to die; they are dead in the water; they are surrounded by the US Navy for Pete’s sake; they are in no position to threaten anybody; unless they KNOW that we are a toothless tiger without the stomach for doing what must be done to rid the seas of their scourge!

I want to know just exactly who it is that is calling these shots, and making me ashamed to be an American right now. â—„Daveâ–º

Yeah, one for the good guys! Just saw this update on Yahoo. They finally pulled their heads out and got our countryman safe while taking out three of the pirates…

MOMBASA, Kenya – U.S. Navy snipers opened fire and killed three pirates holding an American captain at gunpoint, delivering the skipper unharmed and ending a five-day high-seas hostage drama on Easter Sunday.

Capt. Richard Phillips was in “imminent danger” of being killed before snipers shot the pirates in an operation authorized by President Barack Obama, Vice Adm. Bill Gortney said.

He said the pirates were armed with AK-47s and small-caliber pistols and were pointing the rifles at the captain when the commander of the nearby USS Bainbridge gave the order to open fire.

Gortney, the commander of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, said the White House had given “very clear guidance and authority” to take action if Phillips’ life was in danger.

Phillips’ crew, who said they had escaped after he offered himself as a hostage, erupted in cheers aboard their ship docked in Mombasa, Kenya. Some waved an American flag and fired flares in celebration.

Phillips, 53, of Underhill, Vermont, was not hurt in several minutes of gunfire and the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet said he was resting comfortably on a U.S. warship after receiving a medical exam.
