This is the modern Internet at its best. A world class philosopher at home in Canada, and a world famous cartoonist at home in California, sharing an utterly fascinating discussion over Skype, with the whole world via YouTube:

Don’t be dissuaded by the title; surprisingly little of their thought-provoking conversation is about Trump himself. Still, if he accomplishes nothing else this election season, I will always be grateful for the impetus he provided for me to discover the mind of Scott Adams, and for these two intellectual titans to get together for this entertaining debate.

Perhaps it is because I am already well-acquainted with Stefen’s point of view, and am just getting to know Scott. Perhaps it is because I am currently in the middle of reading Scott’s book, and thus have a better understanding of his own experiences and worldview, than I had yet acquired from reading his blog the past few months. His system vs goals insight, for example, is brilliant. Whatever the reason, considering that I am almost always in full agreement with Stefan, it came as a real surprise how often I thought Scott perhaps had the more persuasive argument! Even when he championed happiness over rationality, and posed seemingly valid propositions for governments organizing human endeavors, I had to file them away for further cogitation.

Don’t get me wrong, these gentlemen agreed more than they differed; but the obvious pleasure they had in their good-natured debate, was truly refreshing. Brew a fresh pot of coffee, or pop some popcorn; but do yourself a favor and don’t miss this one. 😉 â—„Daveâ–º

  • That was interesting. I enjoyed some of Stefan’s facial expressions as Scott was talking about an irrational population. LOL

The most important thing I heard was something I very seldom hear.
“What do you want for dinner corn or beans?”

Our moms must have had the same education … so I also learned that early on.

Indecision breeds indecision so always be ready to “STATE” a plan of action. Every group will fall into line like sheep with a sheepdog. Works every time 😉
