I made the mistake of turning on the TV tonight, for information regarding the horrific terrorist attack in Nice. Obviously, I am not the only one pissed off at the Jihadist barbarians, and our feckless politicians. First, Newt was on fire:

…and bluntly telling it like it is. Then, General Flynn was spitting nails:

Trump should consider him for Sec. of Defense! Then, clinicalthinker had already posted Stefan’s reaction:

Ditto, ditto, and ditto… I wish to thank these three wise men for expressing their outrage, so I don’t have to. â—„Daveâ–º

  • OH MY GOSH!
Flynn is a perfect example of the “thinking mind” going into a stall when “emotion” takes over.

Look at him compared to Gingrich who has set aside emotion and simply goes into a “clinical solution” how interesting!

I am going to be gravely disappointed if Gingrigh is passed up for VP. 🙁

    • Very astute observation, CT. I am already gravely disappointed, since Trump has tweeted that Pence is his choice. This may be the first real mistake he has made… following the advice of the ‘pros’ instead of following his gut. 🙁 â—„Daveâ–º

      • This may be the first real mistake he has made

I agree! So why would he opt for Pence?
He has a far better position for Gingrich?

There went half the fun out of all of this!
Trump to shred Hillary in debate.
Gingrich to shred the Dems VP choice.

Honestly Trump appears to be the most lucky candidate I have ever witnessed in my life. One would think ISIS is acting on his behalf. Where do these ISIS masterminds end up on the bell-curve?
Is there such a thing as “gifted morons”? 😉

    • Chris says:

Disappointment is the order of the day. I wish I could say it would be the last.

  • I had three suggestions for Trump and Bernie’s VP picks:
Don’t pick anyone the national committee likes more than you if you value your head.
Pick someone who brings their own supporters with them.
Pick someone who has the skills or demographics you lack.

Trump violates the first two with this pick. I think he should have gone for Rand. All this guy brings to the table is some political experience and religious baggage.

    • Ponder Dilbert’s take, Steel. I have learned to avoid the knee jerk reaction that Trump just made a serious error. After watching Hannity’s interview of Pence last night, and his acceptance speech this morning, I am now somewhat predisposed to actually like the guy, and Scott Adams analysis once again rings true. â—„Daveâ–º

      • That was actually the next thing on my reading list after I posted this.

I think his thoughts on thought control deportations are downright scary, but will need to be addressed as technology marches forward.

On Pence, whether he falls in line or not, his religious baggage comes with him and we will be back to talking about god, gays, and bathrooms again, which is just a dangerous distraction as far as I’m concerned.

He has a point about Gingrich looking a little too good next to Trump. He should keep him and Christie on hand though. Christie is a good attack dog, and Gingrich can keep the base riled up and handle gotcha political questions.

I don’t think Trump looks happy with his choice. It makes me wonder if he had to make a deal with the RNC. Either way, he’s hot to watch his back. I haven’t watched the interviews, so I don’t have a feel for the guy yet. I liked his predecessor, Mitch Daniels.

        • Sure, Trump is a deal maker, and he needs the cooperation of the GOP to actually govern, even if he could win the election without their support. While Pence does check the box for the social conservatives, he is a somewhat stoic marine, and doesn’t at all come across as an arrogant, pandering, Jesus freak, like Cruz did. If Trump has offered Newt and Christie enough to keep them aboard as active surrogates, they can probably accomplish as much or more for him during the campaign, as they might have in the VP slot. â—„Daveâ–º

  • I too looked at what Dilbert had to say about Pence and saw the Hannity interview.

Dilbert has an amusing spin on what he sees and an even more amusing way of presenting it. Apparently it is not hard for him to come up with this (what I view) as fairly accurate logic when thinking “sheeple”.

Actually I would be surprised if Trump thought any of that up on his own … more likely foisted his way by Manafort and Stone who are far more “sheeple” savvy.

As for Pence he certainly did not come off as the “dummy” suggested by Johnson in his analysis. I did find him just a little this side of the snore level however. It is not likely I will be hanging on his every speech in the future. I found nothing to set up “alert antenna” over. 🙂

    • Somnolent is good… Trump doesn’t need any help rousing the rabble. Pence was chosen to calm social conservative nerves and pacify the GOPe, not compete with him for entertainer or motivator in chief. 😉 â—„Daveâ–º
