Thanks much, Paul. You honor me. I intend to peruse your blog further; but for now let me admit that I have a hopeless crush on your governor. :) ◄Dave►

Dave, I used a brief quote from this article as my "quote of the day" and linked back to this article. You, sir, are the kind of man to which I still look up - and I'm nearly as old as you.

Thank you and God bless you!

Well said, Grandma! (Says a slightly older Grandpa ;) ) The author is not unknown, it was Rev. Niemoller as stated in the last line. Too bad that such things are no longer taught in our schools. If they were, we wouldn't be in this mess. ◄Dave►

Dave,

You are correct. We the People need to discuss what we will do when they come to get our guns.

They have found a way, they think, to get around us: In the Illinois Legislature, there is a bill to require all gun owners to carry a million dollar insurance policy on their guns. If you can't afford it, you will have to surrender your guns. If you don't surrender them, you will go to jail.

I am a 61 year old grandmother; I love my country, my God, and my guns; and they will have to pry my guns from my cold, dead fingers.

I remember this from high school... a very long time ago, but it's truth is evident today!

First they came for the Communists,
  and I didn’t speak up,
    because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
  and I didn’t speak up,
    because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
  and I didn’t speak up,
    because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.
by Rev. Martin Niemoller, 1945

We the People had better stand up now!

Agreed, HABCAN. My own oath to defend our precious Constitution, made freely and proudly in '63 upon enlistment in the Army never expired... and won't until I do. Thank you for your service. ◄Dave►

Once, in my Youth, I went to War to preserve the Rights others in Another Country.
Think you not that now, approaching the End of that Life, I would not go again to War to preserve those selfsame Rights in My Own Country?
