So, the Brits have voted to exit the EU. Good for them. Rather than threaten them, the Obamanation should offer them membership in NAFTA, an obviously better fit for them than the EU, which is in a perpetual race with the UN to see which organization can most often fail to find its arse with both hands, sans blindfold.

Even better than NAFTA membership, how about an economic (not political) union of all the major English speaking countries in the world?

IMHO, it is past time for the British derivatives among us to stop apologizing for civilizing much of the world and to take our rightful place as a proud and worthy people.

Now, if we could just get Texas to start a secession movement in the US…

  • Agreed, Troy. As is being written everywhere today, Obama and Hillary have chosen the wrong side of history. I thought Trump’s official statement was pitch perfect. â—„Daveâ–º

  • I’ll be interested to see how this goes.

The vote was nonbinding. Going against it would cause a lot of turmoil, but it isn’t over.

Also, they are now an example. If they do well, this could very well trigger more secessions. If they do poorly, we could see everyone getting absorbed into the nearest superpower.

I think the more powerful interests in the world were in the remain camp. The question now, is will they make the most of things and try to prevent problems, or will they try to make a negative example of the Brits?

Technically true, Steel; but highly unlikely. Well-known Brit Charlie Cook of National Review said it best:

I have seen it suggested — or, perhaps, hoped — that the powers-that-be will simply “ignore” the vote to leave. This is not going to happen. In a strictly legal sense, Parliament is sovereign and can do as it wishes. In consequence, this referendum was technically not binding. Culturally, though, any indication that the government was trying to defy the voters would trigger a catastrophic constitutional crisis. Speaking in front of Downing Street this morning, David Cameron set the tone: “The British people,” he confirmed, “have voted to leave the EU and their will must be respected.” “The will of the British people,” Cameron added, “is an instruction that must be delivered.” Sadly for him, the task of making that delivery will fall to his successor.

He made another cogent point with a great quote:

George Orwell contended that the difference between patriotism and nationalism was that patriotism involved “devotion to a particular place and a particular way of life, which one believes to be the best in the world but has no wish to force on other people,” while nationalism “is inseparable from the desire for power.” By this definition at least, Britain’s decision to extricate itself from the EU was patriotic, not nationalistic. Indeed, if there is any group within the debate that seeks to impose “a particular way of life . . . on other people,” it is the one that wants ever-closer integration into Europe, and, eventually, a federal super-state.

      Orwell’s distinction was profound. â—„Daveâ–º

Take heart, Troy. This was inevitable: Calls For Texas Independence Surge In Wake Of Brexit Vote. It even mentions a California group working on a referendum. 🙂 â—„Daveâ–º

    • Troy Robinson says:

Yep. Just finished reading a major article about it. One could almost take hope from all this but I doubt the one-worlders are going to take it lying down. They do control most of the military might in the world — at least for now.

Initial indications are that a number of nations hope to follow Britain out of the EU. One can only hope.

    • GO CALIFORNIA! Give SF to “moonbeam” and LA/Watts to Mexico and the rest of us will again have one of the most beautiful states in America. 😉

      • I had a similar thought when I read that the Muslim mayor of “Londistan” was talking about breaking away from the UK, to stay with the EU. Our own secession efforts would be much easier, if we could just figure out how to leave the metropolitan islands of Leftists in flyover country with the USA. Most don’t realize that the vast majority of real estate in California is actually populated by sane people. 😀 â—„Daveâ–º

        • Maybe if Trump wins they will leave the country as promised and never come back … LOL

If the Sheriffs started arresting some of these corrupt politicians, tried them, then jailed them. We cut out leaching off SS disability because they are too young to retire but CHOOSE NOT TO WORK because they have a hang nail or wait for it(AGORAPHOBIA)… everyone who gets a government check WORKS (infrastructure comes to mind)… if they can’t or choose not to do that then picking up trash on the side of the road would work too.

How long does it take to realize this PC wimpy system IS NOT WORKING?

My pet peeve in CA is the high speed rail.

          From Shafter to San Jose?
Whoever thought that up should be SHOT BECAUSE THEY ARE A MORON!
Moonbeam Brown should be jailed for corruption and institutionalized also as a moron. To anyone out of the state of CA this might sound like a great idea. HIGH SPEED RAIL sounds great right? From nowhere to nowhere? … not so great!
