Things sure have been slow around here. I know that I have not been holding up my end of things, mostly because there really is not much new to say RE our national condition. I just sit back and watch too many of the things I predicted come to pass with the honest hope that it stops short of my worst prediction (a full-fledged dictatorship).

It is still too early to guess whether the Obamanation will peacefully leave office at the end of his elected term. I suppose that much depends on the prospects for his successor. If the Obamanation’s masters can confidently predict that Hillary will be the next president, then they will no doubt let that happen, knowing that their power will continue undiminished. Should the GOP get its head out of — uh, wherever it usually keeps its head, then who knows what our true masters might then decide. However, such seems very unlikely. Just look at the speed with which assumed GOP front-runner, Krispy-Creame Chistie was reduced to almost-ran status.

Meanwhile, we are off this coming weekend for the next Reason Foundation cruise. Perhaps I will find sufficient inspiration there to write something new. I have been reading and thinking a lot about the effect of fundamentalist religion on our nation and on many of the bizarre happenings therein but have not seen fit to write about it because previous articles on this subject were not well received. While I don’t mind causing minor upset if it makes my readers think, I am not looking to get on any more enemies lists.

Dave, where are you? Have you abandoned this blog for greener pastures? (Or at least, for blogs with more activity?)

It’s been quiet all over Troy. The same as you I have been content to sit back and watch events unfold. I think a lot of people are. A lot going on but nothing unexpected. I’m quite amused with the GOP push back against the tea party. I can only wonder what it exactly is that they don’t agree with. At any rate I’m also watching them do what they do best. Fold under pressure. It’s a fight they will lose. One way or another.

Dave has been scarce all over. He drops in my site about once a month. I think he is becoming more self aware and finding there are priorities. Nothing matters if your not taking care of yourself. I say good for him. That’s what it’s all about. I will say I miss him being around. We used to have Saturday morning chats. The last one was a few weeks ago. The one before was over a month. Last known he was doing well.

I hope your health has improved and continues to do so. Catch you later.

    Hi Troy,
I tried to submit a reply once or twice in the last three months. They vanished into the aether. My fault, I think, but didn’t feel like trying to recreate the message. Maybe everyone has gone to Facebook and Twitter. I have no interest in Twitter, and my Facebook account has been dormant for a bit. Maybe we are losing touch with the interests of a younger crowd. Kind of a Tower of Babylon thing. Morality, what’s that? Keep the faith—chuckle.
    John.

Anyone heard from Dave lately? He seems to have vanished.

    • I am actually doing fine, Chris; thanks for your concern. I feel healthier than I have in years. I now have had cataract surgery in both eyes, and have 20/20 vision again without glasses! It has been 4 1/2 months since I quit smoking, and my lungs are working fantastically without coughing, hacking, and spitting. I walk briskly about 4 mi. a day, and have lost 40 lbs. I even got my dog back the other day, after having her given away while I was in the hospital.

Life is pretty good; but I have lost all interest in politics. I am back in Harry Browne’s world, where I belong. Having looked my mortality in the eye, an interesting thought occurred to me: If I knew exactly how many days I had left to live, how many of them would I choose to spend fussing over political issues and stupid sheeple, which I cannot change? I need a new topic to blog about… â—„Daveâ–º
