The motivation behind “Fast and Furious” is quite obvious to me although none of the media (to my knowledge) seems interested.

Go back to the very beginning of the Obamanation nightmare. The drug war between the various Mexican drug cartels, sometimes spilling over the border into the United States, was just heating up. Some folks in the Obama administration, wanting yet another excuse to implement more gun control, announced to the media that “most” of the guns used by the Mexican drug cartels were flowing over the border from the United States. Presumably from irresponsible gun dealers and the like.

An initial investigation suggested this was, in fact, NOT true.

“Fast and Furious” was nothing more or less that a scheme by the Obama administration to make the original claim seem to be true. Ergo, actually making a seemingly valid case for a firearms crackdown.

As we all now know, those “irresponsible” firearms dealers were, in accordance with the law, reporting questionable attempts to purchase firearms and our own BATFE was telling them “sell away”.

This is yet another good example of the moral and ethical bankruptcy that pervades our federal government and another excellent reason for bringing federal spending under control by simply eliminating BATFE along with all of it peer agencies that are, themselves, more of a threat to our liberty than any foreign threat.

  • Agreed completely with your assessment. I have been for eliminating the BATF(E) since Waco. â—„Daveâ–º

As an aside, we live about 35 miles northwest of Waco. On a recent shopping trip to the area, we drove the few miles outside town to see what is left of the Mount Carmel facility. Mostly just a foundation, basement and a few memorials.

At the time of the incident, I lived south of Waco in Austin. I still remember articles in the local papers telling how David Koresh came to the local WalMart almost every Saturday (we shopped at thatr very store yesterday). The point being that there was no need whatever for an attack squad / television team to storm the complex. All that was needed was to come by WalMart to have a chat with him.

I am convinced that Mount Carmel was a glimpse into our common future if we don’t do something now. This was the first time I was really aware that we had become a nation where people could be shot and burned alive for what they MIGHT do rather than, as the law once required, for what they HAD done.

About two months ago, I read Obama said he was working under the radar for gun control.

Then not long after, I heard about this gun runner scandal. Are we really suppose to believe Obama didn’t give (at least implicit) approval?

    • Agreed. I remember that story. â—„Daveâ–º

    • Troy says:

Oh come on Trial… you know full well that Obama knew nothing about Fast and Furious, just like Nixon knew nothing about Watergate, and Reagan knew nothing about Iran – Contra, and…

It is a constitutional duty of our presidents to never have any idea of any evil going on around them!

(I think the trick is called “plausible deniability”.) Indeed, just after taking the oath of office, they are issued a set of Teflon suits.

      Thanks for commenting.

I think it is time for a special investigator on the events. How about Wayne LaPierre for Special Prosecuter. Anybody interested in following this story check out the NRA website http://www.nranews.com/#/nranews

    • Troy says:

      Dae,
I would agree except for the miserable record of past special prescutors. Asking a fox to deliver a report to a group of weasels investigating hen house raids rarely works.

In a manner of speaking, Wayne and staff already are special prosecutors and we the people are the jury. The question is whether WTP will do our jobs.

      • Well said, Troy. I love the WTP acronym! I hadn’t seen that before; is it original? It would make a much better designation than TEA Party, for Constitutionalist Patriots. Let’s try to promote and propagate it.

  • Troy says:

Dave, you said “I love the WTP acronym! I hadn’t seen that before; is it original?”

The honest answer is that I don’t know. I am never sure when I am remembering versus when I am origination. The older I get, the more true that statement. My default assumption is that I have never had a truly original thought.

Wherever the acronym came from, use and promote it as you will. Perhaps we (read “you”) should incorporate it into something graphic?

    Troy

  • Troy says:

    Clearly I meant “originating”.

  • MikeS. says:

I’ve actually seen several reports about “Fast & Furious” on CBS national news. That surprised the heck outta me.

I have a friend that is a NFA Class 1 dealer and manufacturer of machine guns and other goodies. He was the 1st to tell me about this scandal. He had rec’d a call from a Senator friend. He believes that BATF will be seriously injured by this. Finally!
